Learn

from leaders in food safety, policy and novel food regulations!

Global innovation in food-tech is growing at an incredible pace and there are so many amazing new products and processes out there! This innovation is vital in making a difference to the planet by creating more sustainable and ‘greener’ food systems, whilst also contributing to economic growth.

Regulators are doing their best to keep up. They are all working on ways to evolve in line with innovation and create more effective and efficient ways to regulate novel foods, whilst keeping safety as the key priority. However, regulations are often seen as a barrier to innovation due to complex frameworks, a lack of clear guidance and long evaluation timelines.

Agenda

The aim of this conference is to:

Discuss the key challenges we face as an industry.

Identify what we need for science-based risk assessment for different types of alternative proteins and products derived from food-tech.

Propose changes to current regulatory frameworks to enable more optimal routes to market without compromising on safety.

Work with each other to openly discuss what is missing and what the industry needs.

Define concrete action points and recommendations that can be used as drivers for change.

Conference highlights

Talks by Top Regulatory Experts

We will bring together some amazing speakers for the event from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and expertise. There will also be talks from key regulatory agencies. The talks are intended to set the scene and provide an overview and key insights into the latest regulatory advances.

Panel Discussions

We will host several panel discussions with a variety of experts to get key opinions
and insights. We want the panels to be interactive, open and honest and the
intention is to spark interesting and though
t-provoking debate to challenge and
address key issues.

Deep-dive workshops

On Day 2, there will be a series of interactive deep-dive workshops covering a range
of regulatory topics. During these workshops, the intention is to discuss science-
based risk assessments and safety data requirements for different novel foods,
discuss regulatory strategy and planning, and identify the key challenges faced by
applicants and consider potential solutions.

Outputs

Based on the panel discussions and the workshops, the aim is to produce a
summary of the key discussion points, including
evidence-based insights and concrete recommendations that can be shared and help to inform future decision-making to smooth the pathway to regulatory approval.
