Plant Protein

In the EU, proteins derived from/isolated from plants fall under category IV of the novel food regulation.

To sell proteins derived from plants you may need to obtain pre-market authorisation as a novel food.

Depending on the plant species, the manufacturing process & the final composition of the product your plant protein may not be novel. We can help you determine the novel status of your plant protein. Click here to find out more.

If your plant protein is novel, then you will need to register your product as a novel food & build a novel food dossier to demonstrate its safety.

We can help you to determine which studies you need to support the safety, identity & stability of your plant protein. We can also help you to design the studies to ensure regulatory compliance & guide you through the whole regulatory process.
