Atova Regulatory Consulting is passionate about alternative proteins and foodtech, and is excited to be involved in a number of exciting projects.

PLANTOYMC - Pioneering the Future of Sustainable Protein with Plant-Based and Mycelial Innovation

Horizon Europe Project | Launched January 2025 | Duration: 4 years

Overview

PLANTOMYC is a cutting-edge, EU-funded research project focused on developing hybrid protein ingredients by combining plant-based proteins with mycelial protein biomass (MPB). This innovative approach aims to transform the alternative protein landscape through improving texture, taste, nutritional value and sustainability, making it both more appealing to consumers and aligning with EU food system transformation goals.

The project was launched in January 2025 and brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of 12 partners from across Europe, all working together to deliver scalable, consumer-friendly protein alternatives.

Our Role

As a partner in the PLANTOMYC project, ATOVA ensures that the development of sustainable alternative protein sources based on fungal mycelium and plant proteins is aligned with EU regulatory standards, with particular expertise in the novel foods framework. By supporting regulatory compliance from early development, ATOVA helps bridge innovation and legislation, enabling safe and effective product introduction in the scope of the project.
